Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are raising urgent concerns over a disturbing incident involving a 13-year-old girl, Ama, from Madina, Accra.
They are demanding swift action and justice for Ama, who was subjected to a brutal gang-attack.
Ama, a student of Madina No. 3 School, was allegedly assaulted by more than 20 individuals, including teenagers, starting in February 2025. The ordeal has left her pregnant and emotionally devastated.
She courageously shared her story, identifying the main suspect as 45-year-old mason Clement Kwame, who reportedly lured her with false promises before forcing her into the assault.
Kwame, who lives near Ama’s residence, is said to have coordinated the attack with several accomplices—some believed to be his friends—who participated in multiple assaults.
Ama also reports being threatened to keep quiet, which hindered her from seeking help earlier.
The case is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Madina.
While some arrests have been made, HRRG and JRF are deeply concerned that key suspects, including Kwame, remain at large.
They are calling on authorities to:
- Accelerate the investigation and treat Ama with compassion
- Arrest Clement Kwame and all other perpetrators without delay
- Prosecute all involved to the full extent of the law
- Ensure Ama receives comprehensive medical, psychological, and social support for her trauma and pregnancy
“Our commitment is unwavering—we will not rest until justice prevails,” stated representatives of HRRG and JRF. “Every child has the right to safety, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for stronger protections against child sexual violence in Ghana.
HRRG and JRF urge government agencies, civil society, and the public to intensify efforts, enforce existing laws, and create a protective environment where children can grow up free from fear and harm.
