Accra, August 1, 2025 — Covenant Presby School in Dzorwulu, Accra, celebrated its 18th Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, honoring 30 kindergarten graduates advancing to primary school and 21 Junior High School (JHS) students who completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Held under the theme “Providing Holistic Education to Children the Hope for National Development,” the event underscored the school’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence, moral integrity, and social responsibility.

Ceremony Highlights Achievements and Vision

The vibrant ceremony, held at the school’s forecourt, recognized outstanding students, dedicated staff, and supportive parents. Madam Yvonne Oppong-Ayisi, Acting Head of Syndications and Capital Markets at Consolidated Banks Ghana, chaired the event, urging graduates to embrace curiosity and critical thinking.

“Asking good questions is just as important as giving good answers,” she said, sharing a childhood anecdote about a teacher’s humorous response to her homework query. She hailed the graduates as future leaders, stating, “You are already a success, and the nation is blessed to have you as its future.”

Headmistress Mrs. Evelyn Amoamah Antwi welcomed attendees, emphasizing the school’s Presbyterian values of developing the “head, heart, and hands.” She announced a 100% pass rate and 88% distinction in the 2024 BECE, securing placements for JHS graduates in top Senior High Schools across Ghana.

She also highlighted the success of 2024 graduate Master Frederick Lokko, winner of the Channel One TV and Citi FM Literacy Challenge, now studying science at St. Augustine’s College.

Mrs. Antwi encouraged enrolment in the school’s Read to Grow literacy program, run with Girls Education Initiative Ghana.

Guest Speaker Urges Lifelong Learning

Madam Judith Amoateng Ennin, Director of Education for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, delivered the keynote address, defining holistic education as a blend of academic rigor, moral integrity, emotional resilience, and social responsibility.

“Our children will drive innovation, lead with integrity, and build a just, inclusive, and sustainable society,” she said. She urged graduates to face challenges with courage and view education as a lifelong journey, while thanking parents and teachers as the “foundation” and “heart and soul” of student success.

Academic and Extracurricular Excellence Recognized
The JHS Class of 2025 excelled, with Yebowro Edudzi Yaw dominating subject awards in Mathematics, Science, Career Technology, and Computing, earning the Overall Best Student 2025 award.

Other JHS awardees included Jeremy Oppong (Social Studies), Cedric Agboka (English Language), Obaa Yaa Acheampong (Ghanaian Language – Twi), Akosua Baah Asare (Religious and Moral Education), Messiah Akumia (French Language), and Yebowro Selikem (Creative Arts).

Academic excellence was also recognized across departments:

  • JHS Basic 7: Mandor Komla Jnr Philip (Overall Best Student)
  • Upper Primary Basic 6: Rhule Justice Ayeyi (Overall Best Student)

  • Basic 4: Asiedu-Farkye Prince Yeboah (Overall Best Student)
  • Lower Primary Basic 3: Obeng Mildred Aseda Afriyie (Overall Best Student)
  • Basic 2: Mubarak Iddris Ejora (Overall Best Student)
  • Basic 1A: Addabor Nana Adoma (Overall Best Student)
  • Basic 1B: Offei Ohene Jennifer (Overall Best Student)
  • Preschool KG2: Nuvlo Elikem (Overall Best Student)

Extracurricular achievements included Mister Brani Jenkins (Basic 4) for Taekwondo and Nsoh Ibrahim Najat (Basic 7) for Cadet activities.

Staff Dedication Honored

The ceremony recognized outstanding staff: Shadrach Osei Boateng (Best Teacher, JHS), Theresa Dede Tei (Best Teacher, Primary), Abigail Ashalley (Best Teacher, Preschool), John Essel Amoah (Best Teacher, Extracurricular Activities), and Solomon Tweneboah Prempeh (Best Administrative Staff). Additional staff members Jacob Bright Owusu, Foster Asare, Nuetey Daniel, Samuel Opoku, and Patience Naoh were commended for their commitment.

A Vision for the Future
In her closing remarks, Madam Oppong-Ayisi encouraged graduates to pursue dreams with courage and kindness, noting, “Success is not just about being first in class, it’s about being kind, staying curious, and never giving up.”

She shared a light-hearted memory of hiding a report card, urging students to believe in their potential to become doctors, teachers, engineers, artists, or presidents.

The ceremony concluded with student performances, reflecting hope and pride. Mrs. Antwi’s parting words resonated: “Go out there and shine like the stars, lifting the flag of our dear school high.”

Covenant Presby School reaffirmed its mission to shape compassionate, resilient, and visionary citizens poised to lead Ghana’s future.
