Vinicius Junior: Real Madrid C.F. to Take Legal Action for “Monkey” Remark on their Star Player

Spanish football giant and current European champions have decided to legal action over a comment describing Vinicius Junior as a “monkey” by the president of the Association of Spanish Agents.

After the match between Real Madrid and Mallorca which ended in a 4-1 victory to the Los Blancos, Pedro Bravo bemoans the several dancing goal celebrations of the star forward and likens it to a monkey dance while calling the player to be respectful towards opponents.

He expressed the verbal racial thought as he said, “You have to respect the opponent. If you want to dance, go to the sambadrome in Brazil. In Spain, you have to respect rivals and stop playing the monkey” and this racial abuse has received widespread condemnation from the footballing world with fans pouring on social media to express their concern.

Real Madrid C.F. has subsequently issued an official statement rejecting this racist attack of their player and indicated plans to pursue legal action against any person having any racial expression towards their players.

The club’s statement says that, “Real Madrid C.F. rejects all kinds of racist and xenophobic expressions and behaviors in the field of football, sports and life in general, such as the unfortunate and unfortunate comments made in the few hours against our player.”

While stressing that football has become the most global sport there is and should be a model of values and coexistence, the Madrid club has shown their support for Vinicius Junior yet by stating that, “The club has directed its legal services to take legal action against anyone who makes racist remarks towards our players.”

The Brazilian international has received support from his fellow compatriots and the notable among them is the legendary, Pele. In a show of support to the youngster, Pele compares football to a dance and joy and more so a real party. He admits the continuous existence of racism and asks that we all continue to fight it as it is our right to be happy and respected.

The likes of Neymar of PSG and David Silva of Chelsea have condemned the racial remark and Pedro Bravo has issued an apology to Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid C.F. on Twitter in an attempt to clarify his earlier submission.
