<p><strong>The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga South Municipal Assembly, Hon. Moses Kabu Kubi Ocansey, has outlined a series of transformative projects he has initiated since his appointment, emphasizing his commitment to improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure across the municipality.</strong></p>
<p>Speaking in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the signing of performance contracts by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors at the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Hon. Ocansey said his administration has made significant strides in delivering tangible benefits to local communities.</p>
<p>“When His Excellency John Dramani Mahama gave me the opportunity to serve my people, we laid out a series of projects and most of them are now underway,” he said.</p>
<p><strong>Education Projects to Transform Learning</strong></p>
<p>Hon. Ocansey revealed that four new school projects are currently being developed to provide accessible, quality education across the municipality.</p>
<ul>
<li>Kyekyewere: Two-story school facility for general use.<br />
• Akwasa Broadcasting: Six-classroom, two-story school in an area previously without public schools.<br />
• Kuwait, Tuba: Two-story school to serve the growing population.<br />
• Jei-krodua: New school to cater to the part of the community under Ga South jurisdiction, which had previously not benefitted from any municipal projects.</li>
</ul>
<p>“We are putting up schools in areas that have never seen a public school before. We want the people to know that we cherish them and are taking care of their educational needs,” he noted.</p>
<p>In addition, Hon. Ocansey has successfully lobbied for the establishment of a senior high school, an Islamic Senior High School, and a nursing and midwifery training college, filling long-standing gaps in the municipality’s educational infrastructure.</p>
<p><strong>Healthcare and Market Infrastructure</strong></p>
<p>The MCE highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access, including the construction of two new CHPS compounds—one at Domeabra Obom and another at Nsounanu in Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro area.</p>
<p>A 24-hour market, also at Domeabra Obom, which incorporates a women’s bank, has been developed to promote commerce and support local entrepreneurs.</p>
<p>“We are also working to upgrade the Obom Health Center to hospital status, ensuring more comprehensive medical care for our people,” he said.</p>
<p>He further revived several incomplete legacy projects, such as schools at Avornyokope and Bokemi M/A Basic School–Kokrobite, and the CHPS compound at Akuteaku, which is currently being converted into a clinic.</p>
<p><strong>Roads and Infrastructure Development</strong></p>
<p>Infrastructure has also been a priority. Hon. Ocansey disclosed that a major road project from Ashalaja to Kwaku Panfo is underway, with contractors expected to complete it within one year and eight months.</p>
<p>He further noted that other key road projects have also been awarded, including the Ngleshie Amanfro SHS School road and the Nsounanu road, as part of the municipality’s broader effort to improve road connectivity and ease of movement for residents.</p>
<p>“These projects are designed to make life easier for residents and improve connectivity across the municipality,” he said.</p>
<p>Hon. Ocansey’s remarks reflect a strategic and results-oriented approach to municipal governance, focusing on delivering lasting benefits in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to improve the quality of life for residents of Ga South.</p>
