Health practitioner advises public to eat well-balanced diet

Tamale, Jan. 20, Dr Isaac Asamoah Abekah, a Medical Doctor at Tamale Teaching Hospital advised the public to eat well-balanced diet to get more of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients to stay strong and also help them to prevent diet-related illness.

He said Ghanaians should eat healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy to boost the immune system, to also help in reducing risk of developing related diseases such as high blood pressure, cancer, cholesterol and so on.

According to him, a diet rich in calcium keeps teeth and bones strong and can help to slow bone loss.

He mentioned that keeping active and eating a healthy balanced diet thatxs low in saturated fat and high in fibre found in whole grains can also help to maintain a healthy weight and also to reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

He stated that although the country is facing a economics challenges, Ghanaians should still try to afford balance diet meals to enhance their health care.
